If I end up owing the IRS money, can I use a credit or debit card, or bank account to pay my amount due?

Through an agreement with Official Payments, we offer you the option to charge your federal and state taxes to a credit card using your American Express®, Visa®, MasterCard®, or Discover®. Credit or debit card payment of your balance due is available for your federal return and the following states: AL, AR, CA, CO, CT, DE, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, NE, NJ, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, VA, VT, WI, WV and DC.. A small convenience fee will apply. Some other states allow you to pay your taxes by credit or debit card at their web site.

You may also select to pay your balance due on your taxes by direct payment from your bank account. The direct payment feature is only available for electronic filers' federal return and the following states: AZ, CA, CT, DE, GA, IL, KS, KY, LA, MA, ME, MD, MN, MT, NE, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, UT, VA, VT, WI and WV.
